Disparities in Timely Stroke Care Access by Comorbidity Prevalence
Introduction
In a study published in Preventing Chronic Disease (PCD), researchers from CEHI, the CDC Division of Heart Disease and Stroke Prevention, and the UIC Department of Emergency Medicine used spatial analysis to identify U.S. census tracts beyond a 60-minute drive time from certified stroke care. We found gaps in timely access in areas with higher prevalence of health risk factors such as high blood pressure, cholesterol, and diabetes.
